Sci-Fi gun design in the style of 'Mass Effect.' Still got some work to do but it's getting there.

Astro Ape!
Well, Astro Japanese macaque to be more precise. I was trying out some new techniques for coloring line art here and am pretty happy with how it turned out. Next I'm gonna paint over the whole thing and fully render it out. Stay tuned kiddos....

Icarus
A little something I did for a friend recently. Going for a cartoony comic book thing here. Purple isn't a color I use a whole lot but it was really fun to tackle it here and try to balance it out - very tricky at first but I think it worked out in the end pretty well.

Jetta
This week for Tag Team Tuesdays, Zach and I did sketches of his dog Jetta. I went with crow quill & water color to kinda mix things up.
And yes, Jetta loves to fetch.
Here's the drawing before I painted it.

Bill The Butcher
'Nother Tag Team Tuesdays illustration, this time Bill The Butcher from 'Gangs of New York.' Seriously, would you buy meat from this man?
And here's the original pen & ink drawing, in case you're into that kinda thing...

Not even the lee of the stone can save you this time Mrs. Brisby!!!
'Nother Tag Team Tuesdays post, this time Jenner from "The Secret of NIMH." I really can't overstate how much I loved this movie as a kid. It was so dark and mysterious and Bluth's animation was just ridiculously expressive. Oh yeah and those electrified spears were awesome.

Robble Robble - Fancied up
And here it is w/ some color. I gotta say, Mayor McCheese looks pretty dashing in that purple outfit. It really compliments the cheese drizzlin' outta his head.

Bear Man!
Tuesday = Tag Team Tuesdays. Here's my entry for this week's theme: Bear Man (from True Grit). My favorite part from my favorite movie of 2010. Bear Man, you are a bad-ass.

Trap Jaw comin' atcha!
It's that time again.. So this was my entry for Tag Team Tuesdays this week. The theme (of course) was Trap Jaw. Best part was doing some research and reminding myself of just how much I freakin' loved He-Man as a kid and ESPECIALLY those mini-comics that came with the action figures. I tracked down a few issues and was pretty blown away by how awesome they still are, thanks in no small part to some great artwork by Mark Texeira doing his best Barry Windsor-Smith/Frazetta and succeeding quite well - though you can certainly spot traces of how his style would later develop into it's own cool thing. Anyway, here's a battle wounded Trap Jaw shambling around in front of old Castle Grayskull. Mosey on over to Tag Team Tuesdays to check out Zach's awesomely whacked out take on TJ.

A new project - Tag Team Tuesdays
So lately I've been really inspired by all the various blogs that have features where different people draw the same topic or character. I find it endlessly interesting to see what each artist does with the same basic premise/subject matter. Anyway, I decided to give it a shot myself and so I got together with my good friend and rad artist Zach Lopez and together we're doing Tag Team Tuesdays. So every (you guessed it) Tuesday we'll be posting up our respective takes on various characters, comics, cartoons and whatnot. At the very least it'll keep me off the streets and that's never a bad thing.
BTW - For our first TTT we decided to draw a Garthim (oh yes!). Here's my take below. Mosey on over to Tag Team Tuesdays to see the other eye candy.

SketchCrawl #30
I had a blast doodling down at the SketchCrawl last weekend. No doubt it had something to do with the location - The Natural History Museum. Awesome indeed. Armed with nothing but a Moleskine and my trusty brush pen, I ventured into the halls of creepily static beasts...
